Holdset

What Holdset backs up

Keep a separate copy of the files you choose, ready to recover if the originals are lost.

Protection starts after a successful backup. Files deleted before they were backed up cannot be recovered.

Uploaded filesManual uploads from your computer. Up to 100 files and 100 MiB at a time.

Each upload saves only the files you select. Upload again to save changes; your computer is not backed up automatically.

Folder layouts, original file permissions and modification dates are not preserved. Archives stay as uploaded files. Uploading needs JavaScript enabled in your browser.

GitHubYour selected repositories, including code and available Git history.

Includes branches, tags and supported Git LFS files. Submodules need their own selected backup.

Issues, pull requests, reviews, wikis, release downloads, Actions logs and artifacts, packages, settings and secret values are not included.

To put a saved repository back on GitHub, create a destination repository and push the saved code, history and LFS files.

OneDriveCurrent files and folders from the drive you choose.

We keep the copies saved by Holdset, not Microsoft’s earlier versions.

OneNote, Personal Vault, unsupported shared files and shortcuts, sharing links, permissions and original author details are not included.

Google DriveMy Drive files. Google documents are saved as Office or SVG files.

Docs become Word files (.docx), Sheets become Excel files (.xlsx), Slides become PowerPoint files (.pptx), and Drawings become SVG files.

Shared Drives, Shared with me, shortcuts, trash, comments, sharing settings, Google’s earlier versions and unsupported document types are not included. Skipped items are listed with the backup.

Some filenames gain an ID to avoid clashes. Your original Google Drive files are not renamed.

Server folderA folder you approve on a Linux server. Full machines and running databases need a different kind of backup.

Includes regular files, folders and safe relative links within the chosen folder. Links that leave the folder or loop back on themselves, absolute links and special device files are not supported.

Folder archives keep ordinary file permissions and modification dates. Ownership, access-control lists, extended attributes and privileged permissions are not preserved.

A running database needs a database backup; copying its files may not give you a usable copy.

Getting your files back

Choose a saved backup and download a file, folder or repository. Downloads don’t change the originals or rebuild your cloud account.

Download links expire. You can prepare another while the backup is still available.

How your files are protected

Saved backups are encrypted, with separate backup keys for each workspace. Holdset can read files while running backups and preparing downloads.

Cloud connections use read-only access. We don’t change or delete files in your connected accounts.

How long copies are kept

This depends on your workspace. Ask the person who invited you how long backups are kept and whether a second copy is enabled.

Disconnecting an account stops new backups. Earlier copies stay until their retention period ends. Use Account in your workspace to see options for closing it.

A completed backup does not mean extra copies, file checks or a recovery test are complete. Backup details show copy and file-check status.
